Miriam Hanson

Yoga is for everybody! Miriam believes in the power of yoga to transform us out of the daily minutia and self-obsessions to bring us freedom through breath, asana and spiritual practice. After 11 years of regular practice in her Caribbean home with visiting teachers from around the world, Miriam earned her 200hr Yoga Alliance certification in Vinyasa Teaching. She returned to her birth home of Duluth in 2013 and has guided yoga classes of all sorts with all sorts! She enjoys the fellowship and friendliness of yoga, as well as the opportunity to create a loving space of breath and movement in her yoga classes. While she enjoys a good challenging asana practice, in her personal practice Miriam finds the greatest challenge in committing to a daily meditation and breath-practice. The grace to teach is a gift from the students, and Miriam continues to learn from the beautiful yogis who show up to every class!

Michelle Cartier

Co-owner of Runa Yoga Michelle Cartier has been practicing yoga for approximately 12 years.  She is a certified instructor as an E-RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance and a graduate of The Yoga Center of Minneapolis. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Physiology with an emphasis on Cardiac Rehabilitation from The College of Saint Scholastica. Cartier has also worked in the healthcare system of cardiology at Essentia Health. In addition to her work in the healthcare system, Michelle has also been a passionate supporter of the local farming community and sustainably produced food systems. It is her strong belief that optimal health and wellness is achieved when the mind and body are both treated and supported as one.  She feels grateful to be a lifelong student of the practice of yoga and for the opportunity to share that passion with others.
