JAMIE BENNETT

    Jamie’s passion for yoga began in 2006 while doing research in New Zealand. It was there that she was first introduced to Yoga and Eastern Philosophy. The physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga were immediately apparent to her, and so began her yogic journey. In the spring of 2010, through intensive study at Yoga North in Duluth, MN, Jamie received her TT200 Hatha Yoga Certification. In 2015 Jamie moved to Costa Rica and received her TT500 & Pranassage Certifications at the Nosara Yoga Institute.

     

    Jamie’s life-long study of dance & movement coupled with her love of yoga, have influenced her teaching style and philosophy. Jamie strives to help students at any level feel accepted, supported, and safe as they gently begin to explore movement and postures-(Asana) within their bodies. Her teaching style encompasses the 8 fold path of yoga, through the incorporation of meditation, philosophy, and breath work in many of her classes. She also attempts to help students raise self awareness and build confidence while exploring their natural life path. Her main objective in teaching is to share yoga’s ancient wisdom in a fun, welcoming, and enthusiastic way.

    Co-owner Jessie Erickson E-RYT 200 + YACEP has over 20 years experience as professional Dancer, over 10 years experience as a yoga practitioner and over 8 years experience as a yoga/fitness instructor. She holds a B.A. minor in Dance from The University of Minnesota Duluth, has a E-200 RYT hours Training Certificate from Yoga Alliance and over 2100 hours of teaching experience. For the past 10 years, Erickson has instructed yoga and dance classes in multiple cities including New York City, New York; Boulder, Colorado and Duluth, Minnesota. Erickson has a unique and engaging approach to teaching; she brings kindness and nurture to her classroom, which creates an environment that fosters growth through curiosity. Erickson believes that we can make the world a better place by first making our lives better.

    Dominique Jenssen began her yoga journey over 9 years ago to complement her dance training. She performed professionally with ballet companies in Pennsylvania, New York and Illinois. She is a 200 RYT certified instructor with Yoga Alliance, and finds that yoga provided her the daily reminder to slow down and take a deep breath every once in a while. Her class will focus on the foundational postures of yoga, while playing with transitions and keeping it light hearted.

    STEPHANIE FURO

    Ana studied at Yoga North ISYI for her 200 hour teacher training and has been practicing yoga for 7 years. She started practicing yoga after a sports injury and as time went on, dove deeper into yogic philosophy, meditation, and breath practices. She is currently studying biochemistry at UMD and has a passion for learning how the human body works. She loves the overlap between science and yoga, and integrating this into classes.

    Her intention for classes is to have mindful progression, an emphasis on connecting our mind, body, and spirit, and to combine “work-out” with “work-in”. She wants to make yoga accessible to every body and allow space for self-inquiry.”

    KELLY HORAZDOVSKY

    Katie was a yoga practitioner for 5 years before she decided to dig deeper and get her RYT 200 hours certification from Kashish School of Yoga in Goa, India. Katie loves yoga not only for the benefits it gives your body, but also your mind.

     

    Katie loves teaching the style of vinyasa yoga because it can be molded in to any type of class you want it to be; from a day one beginner to advanced, she truly believes yoga is for everybody! Her day isn’t complete unless she can make time to practice yoga.

     

    When Katie is not on her mat, you can find her studying for nursing school, planning a spontaneous getaway or baking something delicious!

    Yoga has been a driving force in Emily‘s life for 15 years. She has over 1200 hours of teaching experience and is an E-200 RYT certified instructor with Yoga Alliance. She received her training at the Sivananda Kutir Ashram in Netala, India in 2011, and is a Teacher Trainer at Duluth’s very own House of the Gathering Yoga School. You can also find her teaching SUP Yoga in warmer months. Emily’s areas of focus in teaching are biomechanically sound movement patterns and cueing, creative flows, pranayama, and giggles. She is as down-to-earth as she is energetic, and her passion for yoga is apparent within moments of meeting her. She received a BA of Fine Arts from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and is also a Licensed Massage Therapist, specializing in Myofascial Release and Traditional Ashiatsu. Born in Venezuela and raised in Louisiana, Emily backpacked and bounced around until finding her home on the shores of Lake Superior in 2008. She spends her free time hiking with Vera, her German Shepherd, cooking, singing, and dancing ~ with the intention of fully exploring what life has to offer, one day at a time, with compassion and gratitude.

    HEIDI SCHUCHMAN

    Heidi is an elementary school teacher who combines her loves of yoga and teaching to bring yoga to kids of all ages, both in and out of the school classroom. She is a certified Yoga Calm instructor, as well as having received training in the Adventures of Superstretch, and looks forward to being 200 hour certified soon! Off her mat, Heidi loves to run the lakeshore path, ski in the winter, and hang out with her two kids, husband and dog.When not on her mat, Alisa can be found running around with her amazingly energetic 3 year-old son, or at UW-Superior, where she is an Associate Professor of Political Science.

    ALISA VON HAGEL

    Alisa first began to develop her yoga practice while in graduate school, primarily as a means to relieve stress and to momentarily escape from studying. After six years of practice, Alisa underwent two teacher training programs, becoming certified as a RYT 200 instructor as well as receiving a certification to teach Hot Yoga. Currently, Alisa primarily teaches Fusion - a blend of Hot Yoga and Vinyasa, yet over the past six years she has taught - and continues to love - a wide variety of styles, including Vinyasa, Hot Yoga, and Yin.

    When not on her mat, Alisa can be found running around with her amazingly energetic 3 year-old son, or at UW-Superior, where she is an Associate Professor of Political Science.
